You won't be able to put it down, I guarantee it. It's hard to imagine a more endearing character than Lily, who grows and changes throughout the story in a most satisfying manner. The anecdotes seem reasonably realistic, though a little random - the arrival of her first child, a gypsy kidnaps her little sister (an adopted gypsy child), the meeting of an interesting friend, her annoying cook, her husband's irresponsible brother, reformation of a gypsy mother, her husband's illness and conversion, exposure of a dying woman's fantasy of Christ, the woman's subsequent self-knowledge, a conversation at a dinner party, etc. The struggles of believing in a loving, sovereign God in the midst of pain and suffering are relevant throughout history. ebook Abroad (Penguin Specials) Pdf Epub. It's really a great book. For God is incomparably more inclined to bestow favors upon us than to chastise us, as Saint James says: 'Mercy exalts itself above judgment' (2:13). Holy Love and the messages are the daily food we should be consuming. Superbly researched, a real treat. Didn't always care for the author's opinions, but the maps are great and he includes a tremendous amount of helpful info. One of the best things all around that DC ever produced.
